Handmade box from a combination of unique kinds of wood with beautiful grain. The vase is turned by hand on a woodturning lathe. It is made using a bowl and detail gouges and then it is finished with extra virgin olive oil. The hollow form part of the box is made of olive wood. The olive wood has been collected locally from Crete island in Greece. It is a hard, strong wood with rich color that is prized all around the world for its appearance.
It usually has many curly grains with a contrast of colors from beige to golden brown and to dark brown. The grain from piece to piece can be completely different but we always choose the most beautiful ones!
The specific box can be used as a decorative item due to its uniqueness and also as a small jewelry box. Functional art it is!
The diameter is 12cm (4.7 inches)and the height, including the handle is 11cm (4.3 inches), box only is 6.5 cm (2.5 inches) and lid 4.5 cm (1.6 inches).
For shipping we try to be as environmentally friendly as we can. The item will be packaged in a sustainably sourced box, using wood shavings from the lathe as a cushion for safe transport.
The box and the shavings are biodegradable.
Not two boxes can be the same because of the nature of wood and its grain but we always make sure to choose the most beautiful pieces!
