Frequently Asked Questions
What makes olive wood boards different from other wooden boards?
Olive wood is prized for its exceptional durability, dense grain, and striking natural patterns. Every board is completely unique, with distinctive grain, knots, and colour variations that make each piece one of a kind while providing a strong and long-lasting surface for everyday use.
Can I use these boards for both serving and food preparation?
Absolutely. Our olive wood boards are designed to be versatile enough for chopping, slicing, and serving. They are perfect for presenting cheese, charcuterie, bread, fruit, appetisers, or tapas while also functioning as practical kitchen boards.
Is olive wood safe for preparing food?
Yes. Olive wood is naturally dense and has excellent moisture resistance, making it a popular choice for kitchenware. All of our boards are carefully finished with food-safe oils, making them suitable for everyday food preparation and serving.
Will my board look exactly like the photos?
No. Every olive tree grows differently, which means each board has its own unique grain pattern, shape, and natural character. The product photos represent the style and craftsmanship, but your board will always be one of a kind.
How do I clean my olive wood board?
Wash your board by hand using warm water and mild soap, then dry it immediately with a soft cloth. Avoid soaking it in water and never place it in the dishwasher, as excessive moisture and heat can damage natural wood.
How should I maintain my olive wood board?
To keep your board looking its best, apply a food-safe mineral oil or beeswax conditioner whenever the wood begins to appear dry. Regular conditioning helps preserve the wood’s natural beauty and prevents cracking over time.
Can olive wood boards be used for meat?
Yes. Olive wood is suitable for preparing meat, vegetables, bread, and other foods. Simply wash the board thoroughly with warm soapy water after each use, especially after preparing raw meat.
Are your olive wood boards handmade?
Yes. Every board is handcrafted in our workshop in Crete by skilled artisans. We carefully shape, sand, and finish each piece by hand, ensuring every board combines practical function with the natural beauty of olive wood.
Where does the olive wood come from?
Our boards are crafted from responsibly sourced olive wood from Greece. The wood comes from olive trees that have naturally reached the end of their productive life or from regular pruning, allowing this beautiful material to be given a new purpose.
Can I order a personalised olive wood board?
Yes. Many of our boards can be customised with engraved names, dates, logos, or special messages, making them ideal gifts for weddings, anniversaries, birthdays, housewarmings, or corporate occasions. Please check the individual product page for available personalisation options.
