Handmade wooden bowl for fruit, made out of olive wood with its rustic natural edge left untouched. These bowls are made from whole logs saved from fire. The darkest part in the center of the bowl is the pith of the log and the way it is turned it makes it round on the bottom and a little bit oval shape on the top. It is made using a bowl gouge and then the piece is finished with extra virgin olive oil.
The olive wood has been collected locally from Crete island in Greece. In general it is a hard, strong wood with rich color that is prized all around the world for its appearance.
It usually has many curly grains with a contrast of colors from beige to golden brown and to dark brown.
The specific bowls can be used as decorative items due to their uniqueness but since they are also treated with food safe oil they can also be used as a fruit bowl!
